Springs and retainers bring it on

I am shopping for cams, springs and retainers. Cams are HKS 280 but I want to see more options about springs and retainers. So far I see Revolvers, BR and Wroks set. Any more you guys can recommend. I will be adding parts right after my emission test which coming in July ~ August..

all names are welcome

Can I have more specs and prices please. I want to rev up to 8200~8500 RPM. I have plenty of boost left and I would love to use it. I dont want to rev too high but I would like to give it extra few hundreds (now 7800 RPM).

Logic Performance sells the Crower valve springs/retainers for $269 and will easily do 8,000+ RPMs. The Ferrea dual valvesprings/retainers run about $539 and will do well over 9,000+ RPMs all day long. If your running a drag car, go for the ferreas, but crowers are perfect for a street car. TODA, JUN, and all those fancy JDM parts are hella expensive, but to each his own!

Buschur has them for sale on their web site for less than the other brands and they work great.

Good points. This is not a drag car but I would like to rev a bit higher than 7800RPM safely. I am sure that the bottom end will handle 8200~8500 RPM no issues. I was thinking about the revolvers from Suez as the price is good but these dual springs ferreras are testy

Any issues in installing these with stock valves as I am not planing on removing the head?

You wont get your moneys worth from the Ferrea's unless your making it a dedicated racer. Those crower springs and retainers will go to 9,000 no problem, the Ferrea's are nuts, my boy has them in a Honda that Revs to 10,000 all motor. No need for the Ferrea's unless your running a crazy high lift cam, HKS's are very mild as far as lift goes.

Ohhh yeah, forgot to mention. Trannies DO NOT like 9,000 RPM shifts, talk about killing synchro's

true but I would like to do the job right from the first time just in case if I switch cams later.

How much are spring/retainer installs? I was following that other thread where Revolver had discovered the HKS cams rubbing against the springs and retainers, causing what could be long term premature wear.

I don't have any springs/retainers on my HKS cams now, but I'd like to get them done eventually.. I have heard some crazy prices though (as some shops insist on pulling the entire head). Is it possible to do it without pulling the head?
