HKS IC Piping Question

I don't know whos EVO this belongs to, but I am sure that it is a USDM EVO VIII with the HKS Intercooler Piping kit..

As a result of my searches on various threads, I thought this intercooler piping required you to use a mini battery kit or re-position the OEM battery.

How did this work??

I remember reading that you don't have to mess with the batt. to make the kit work, but you need to buy the fmic and upper pipe with bov for a complete kit.

that's the thing.. this kit isnt the ver.2, which comes with the ssq-bov. it's meant for the VII. somehow, this guy managed to fit it perfectly without losing or repositioning the OEM battery.

I believe it might be the Kansai kit by HKS designed for non-US spec Evo's, though Ive seen on US spec cars with them....minor fabrication needed of course

my friend has the Kansai kit and this is definitely not it.

his needed much more than the claimed "minor" fabrication..

the kansai is not worth it IMHO

i really want to keep my ARC induction box and OEM-sized battery, so it looks like i'm going to have to go with Ralliart IC piping if this doesnt work..

that HKS piping looks very similar to the Helix piping.you might want to check that piping kit out.

You can get the Greddy Upper IC pipe. It is $175 to $185 shipping included. You can find it on here if you search. It is very nice, it comes with a cast aluminum 90 degree elbow and an aluminum pipe that meets up with the stock piping location by the air filter. It comes with all couplers and clamps required. I have this on my car. It will fit with the stock battery barely. I choose to get a little more room and bought a battery from Autozone for $49, that is the just slightly smaller than the stock battery in length and 1" shorter in height. This battery has more cranking amps than the stock battery and has a 84 months warranty also. I posted some pictures on here somewhere of it.
