Speed or Quickness? when do you stop?!

I know I was excited to purchace my Evo 2 years ago, we all remember driving it home, boy was it "quick"! Now, I've got to know the UPS man on a first name basis, as he always seems to drop off boxes of "go-Fast" parts every now and then. I think My mod list is pretty full, and I would always say: "No more parts after this one! I'm Done!" that was about 40 "boxes" ago! I wanted the BIG turbo, but then thought...........WHY? to get the kids to school faster? to get the gallon of milk home faster so we can start to enjoy it before it gets warm?

With all my "faster" parts, I can still get in a stock EVO, and feel like my lunch is comming up for a "re-chew" once the gas is mashed. My car will give it to you too, but later down the road, high end stuff! I dont want the highest HP EVO in the country, nor do I want to go down the 1/4 mile in 8 seconds, where can I apply that to real world driving? If you are considering "go-fast-parts" ask yourself what you want in the end, speed or quickness, I kind of miss the quickness and simplicity of the stock setup!...........but then again the UPS man and I have become friends, and friendship means alot to me, I would hate to lose that!

Enjoy the car, but leave the 1/4 mile Kings and 2000 HP EVOS to the Speedshops, they can afford it! Keep in simple and Get the Xede S.M.A.R.T. system, and get all your parts from Dyno4mance! I havent made a mistake of using the Vishnu product or getting my "go-faster" parts from the friendly folks down in GA, (Andrew at Dyno4mance), he has a funny accent, I am trying to guess where he is from, I have it narrowed down to North Jersey or Boston!

Dont mind my idle ramblings, this is therapy for me, because there is no "patch" for my "illness" yet, but I think I can be cured.....Gotta go now, the UPS man is here.............................................. . Last box I swear!!!!!!!!!!

I hope to god you are joking about Andrew, because he is clearly not from jersey or boston, lol.

I know what you mean man, i fight with myself every day about **** like that. I almost put 4500 bucks on a credit card the other day to order the turbo kit ive been wanting for so long, all the while im already in debt up to my ears just graduated from college with a wife and baby....got a crappy job til i find "the right job" and the wife doesn't start work until 1st of august....but im still talking myself into 4500 turbo kits. I just listed my atv for sale to buy a damn turbo....and i owe my dad 5k bucks on a loan..LOL Cars make you do crazy ****.

But, instead i buy an alky kit and it shows up a weak early for my wife to open it and see the $500 invoice and cuss me to no end....i bet marriages have ended over hotrod parts and cars....its re-dam-dikulus

I hope to god you are joking. Why would you get yourself so far into debt over go-fast parts? Honestly if you need a credit card to buy it, then you probably CANT afford it. Especially considering you already were in hella debt.

I've been hooked since 17 when I first got my integra. I bought the Integra for 6k, and spend another 16k in mods, widebody, turbo, sound, etc.... Just sold it last week for 8500, lost bunch of money.
I'm in the same position as you, keep saying " I swear this is the last part", then the next minute hitting the checkout button.
Have $57.85 in the bank, just order parts for the evo $57.59. Everytime the money comes in, it goes out. LOL

I think owning a car that has customizable parts out there is just dangerous for anybody that likes to "mod" a car... I owned a Z and I thought... the car looks good and its quick... that's all i need..... soon enough... i'm buying every damn thing for it.... then when i got rid of the car and decided to get a normal car just to drive around to college and back, i chose the lancer. Didn't think of it much, but then.... after two weeks owning it... i was bored and didn't want to watch TV, so i went out and got tints and put 5% all around my car... then after that... it was curtains for my wallet and bank account... and wachovia letters of overdraft charges starting coming in the mail...

I know, Andrew is from across the pond, I was just joking.
This story you just wrote looks exactly like my life story, with the carparts. I even put my car on e-bay, after my wife got fed up with the spending on parts! we need to form a support group!

Kevin,

You have a good point here. I was driving JuanCevo8's car back from the beach yesterday after getting done upgrading to the 10.5 hotside. The car drives awesome and with a flash and cams it drives like stock. I am driving at 80 cruising and thinking damn this car is done and doesn't need anything else. If i stepped on it the car felt like it was pissed off and ready to take off like an F16 going to war. We get caught up in the modding game and sometimes realize you are building a trailer queen. I remember when Dave Buschur told me to try a Buschur stage 4 and if i was not happy then swap out the turbo. He was right, the Buschur stage 4 with Alcohol is a Monster on the road.

The modding game never ends. I also know the UPS man on a first name basis, heck he actually knows what i am buying most of the time .
