I've got about 22k on my 03 and I just noticed that my evo is also doing the 5th gear grind... Prolly a dumb question but I have a few mild mods like intake, tbe, mbc. If I take my car in to get looked at about this problem do think it won't be covered because of the mods or does it just depend on the dealership?

I would bet "no wararnty" - if you dont have a clutch then i bet they will point to the mbc....

I wouldn't risk going to the dealer with any mods at all.

 

ive got an 05, with 5000 miles. already took it in once with 5th gear grind. took it back 2nd time and they tried to drive it and lie. i drove and it grinded and they said it was me drivin, and shifting to fast. went to another dealership and the manager didnt even look at my car, i just told him what was goin on. he said that it was the synchro. he also commented that there was nothing about my driving that would cause that. so this crap of the dealer saying it the drivers fault. forget it, dont let the lie to ya. i also am looking for a dealership that would be cool with a few modz. nothing major. let me know.
