I'm considering getting the Greddy T67 EVO 8 Turbo upgrade
Well there sure is alot of people claiming that a gt35r will spool faster than a t67 and I dont agree. From my experience with two different cars that ran both turbos both seemed to boost about the same rpm maybe even a little faster with the t67 and more potential with the t67. I love that turbo. Very underestimated. Gt35r=way overrated.
Ps. its all in the tune. You cant slap on a turbo that big and expect quick spool up. If you have aem and a good knowledge of it and want to make big power, 450+ then the choice is clear. Why run 30+psi on a gt35r to make 500whp when you can do it with 25 on a t67, and even more from there. T67 gets my vote.

The gt35r is far from being overrated. The T67 is considered a great turbo that is slightly larger and if built right can be slightly more efficient. Ive seen poorly built T67s that were well outperformed by the gt35r. The GT35R is a great all around turbo if used on the right platform and is proven to be a big performer on a stroker motor with great spoolup. The use of the word "overrated" and "played out" is used to liberally on this board.

I would totally disagree - while spool is fairly similar between the 2 on an Evo, I have not seen any 600+ whp T67 cars running around. And the fact that the manifold has been known to crack is a major downside in my book
yes the Garrett based kits are expensive...but the ones we are discussing have proven themselves time and time again to make reliable, consistent power, they fit perfectly, and are expandale in the future. Yes a stock turbo can make impressive power and run impressive times as well but to paraphrase from a movie "not the same ballpark, hell, ain't even the same sport"
For a pump gas car, there are some good options - 3037, GT35 (if you want more of a top end setup) and the Apexi kit would all be worthy considerations IMHO

Last I've seen the GT35R kit is rather expensive, not saying it isn't worth every penny due to it being an excellent pruven turbo though. Due to the fact that the EVO manifold isn't as stout as the manifold on the SR, It might not be an option. If you have some one who can help you reinforce it though...

I know Al has tuned this kit at 18 psi with over 420 WHP.
Does anyone else have this kit or is considering getting it?
I know several vendors who are greddy dealers who wont have a problem giving me this kit at cost.

In my opinion it is not ideal to install such turbo in a EVO engine unless you have specific goal. Your car could run like $hit driving from traffic light to traffic light on 91oct, lag is going to kill you.
My friend rraulston(that is his name on this forum) had the worst nightmare with his GT35 kit on his EVO, his car runs faster now with his stocker Evo turbo with 10.5 hotside than before with his GT35. Send him a PM for details.
As per me, I had FP18G ported and polished turbo on my WRX , that was the biggest mistake I ever had done in my history of cars, I really wished I never had swaped my turbo to a bigger one.
I can see the T67 as a good turbo for a EVO with a stroker but not really in a stock block.
There is some confusion here for sure. The Greddy T67 turbo kit you are talking about is NOT the same as a Garrett T67. The T67, T4 turbo from Garrett is HUGE. Larger than the GT35r, much laggier too. I know as I have two at the shop. One is on our Conquest now that has gone 8.6 at 158 mph the other was on my tube chassis car that ran 7.8 at 175 mph. This is NOT the same turbo as the Greddy kit has.
Now, I have had two of these Greddy kits come through our shop for me to tune the AEM EMS on. Honestly, it's a pretty good turbo. I hate to say it as I have turbos I'd love to sell.
I don't think you can make over 500 whp with it at high boost though. So it is a fairly small turbo as far as turbos go. NOT a GT35R by any means. Spool up on the turbo is pretty darn good, like a smaller GT30 style turbo. I do NOT like the header though. I have seen them broken already, thin wall stainless steel. They do hold very very good boost. 25 psi and a perfectly flat boost line all the way to whatever you want to rev the engine to.
I'd like to think our new turbo kit with a smaller GT30 will not only beat it on price but on reliability with our cast manifold too. Their manifold definetely cracks. I also am not fond of the collector they use on the header, although it is a good idea for making a quick fix to tucking the turbo back under the tubes.
I have been impressed with the performance of the kit and seat of the pants pull, don't know that I would recommend it on the facts that the tubular header, in this case for sure, has cracked and broken more than once.

thanks for your comments dave, I really do respect your input.
well i can chime in on this subject but my setup is slightly different than the greddy t67. i first bought the rnr kit with the standard manifold & 60 trim.. i made almost 400whp with that now i'm using that same kit but i swapped to a garret t67 t3/t04s turbo & it's not for most people but when i get full boost @ about 5100 it simply hauls ***.... i'm moving more air on 20psi than i was on 27psi on the other turbo. (i just put it on last week so i don't have any real data but all i know is i love this turbo)
if you want some crazy power up top get a t67 but if you like good spoolup & more drivability go with a gt30 turbo..
so that is another option you could get someone's kit & use a small garrett t67 like me & get what your looking for. i'm sure ams would sell you there kit with a t67 on it. just a thought

I've had this T67 turbo kit on my Evo 6 for 5 years and it only started to crack a little on the merged collectors recently. Little bit of welding resolved it. Great turbo with lots of reponse. I get full boost at 4100 rpm all the way to 7krpm on my 2.3 litre stroker engine. MAde 502 ATW on a 4wd Dynojet running 30 psi on C16.
Local customer was loving his T67 Greddy Kit. He made 54x awhp with it on completely stock motor minus HKS 280s. That is including stock Intake Manifold. The turbo is awesome and spools very well. He made right around 420awhp on pump gas and 19-20psi as well. I'm not telling anybody to get this over anything but just pointing out that it can definately make power and spool well.
