Get that thing to the dyno so we can see what you've done, and where you're spooling at. Also what else have you done? List your mods.

So you're still on the 2.0? Do you experiance slow spool, and where are you running your cams a s far as cam gears? Please tell me you have them, but never listed them.

From what I've seen, 280s seem to slow response on the stock turbo. Some guys have apparently gone back to their original 264 or 272 cams after trying the 280s. What do the guys with 280s say?

I like the 280s, they give great top end response, depending on your cam gear settings you can also bring the powerband lower in the RPM range but you lose the top end pull. I prefer the high rpm power myself.

in california on 91 octane at 21psi I put on a mustang dyno 373hp. which on dynojet is about 450. My guy at extreme imports said when he will flash my ecu on 26 psi c16 octane I will get 450hp mustang dyno which on dynojet is 550hp. what do you guys recommend next? I think I should start at my driveline(rear diff).....
I start boosting at 3400 rpm by the way.

I was actually wondering about that too.. Partially why I chose to go with these 280 cams, but specifically I will be using a converted TME turbo (actually a BR20G TiAl) to recover that small amount of spool lost.. Like you, I want that top-end power, I can make up for the slight loss in low-end with tuning and the turbo upgrade.

I just love the sound of healthy cams..

i have 280's with the 05 stocker and i love them. the higher the RPM the more the car pulls....i just can't wait to reinstall my 50 trim.

i am using them with the AEM with no cam gears and the idle is close to stock...never stalled or dipped.

i had 272's on my last car and if i could do it all over again...i would go with the 280's again....

Maybe it is just me, but is the theory of all the Japanese tuners to run low duration and high lift cams on a turbo car? Example the Jun's and the Tomei Pro cams. Turn large quantities of air on the turbo at once for a short period of time= spool and stability. Just my two cents

Its not just a japanese theory.. Old school musclecar too.. Using shorter duration reduces cam overlap which improves spool and midrange torque.. The longer duration improves top-end performance because it gives more time for the air to rush in without requiring much higher lift. The best cams have a decent duration, without a huge amount of overlap, with plenty of lift, but most of those cams have very short ramps and therefore require valvesprings. Also, with the high compression of our motors, we have to be careful of using very high lift since you don't want the valves to make contact with the pistons.

HKS cams are designed specifically to give you the most lift possible with safe durations that don't require valvespring upgrades or work to the pistons. So they use more duration and slightly less lift.

On our heads, the additional lift doesn't help quite as much without that duration, but any little bit helps.
