Alchohol injection and GT35R

Hey guys,

This weekend at the shootout I was able to run some traps in the 120 mph range. With my fat @ss in the car it weighs 3400 lbs. (on a scale, not a guesstimate) Using the on line hp calculators that puts me in the 460 wheel HP level (dynojet equivelent numbers) at 25 psi on 93 octane with the alcohol injection That would be around 390 wheel HP on a dyno dynamics dynometer, right around 550 at the crank.

Just had to say how happy I am with the setup

Keith

Good number. I just ran a 119.6 with my 35r, but had considerable problems getting off the line. Bogged BIG time. What rpm are you launching at and what engine management are you using?

does alky help the turbo spool any faster? What are your alcohol settings?

Best was 120.02 I was launching at 7,000 on the AEM EMS 2 step rev limiter. 1.7xx 60' times.

Buschurs older GT35R kit with the .63 A/R exhaust housing. Check out the other thread about GT35R spool.

was this on a conservative tune? i remember seing evodave's thread where he got a little over 550whp on pump and alky. i am in a tough situation, i live in an area that is 6000ft above sea level. i want the 35r but worried about spool up. i have been following the other thread closely. a local person bought a 3076 and says he gets full boost around 4500, so i figure the 35r would be around 5000. would it still be worth buying the 35r or should i just stick with something like the buschur 20g? i will be using the utec for tuning.

Well done Keith!
I'm headed out Wednesday to get some methanol/35R times. I haven't been out yet with the new setup.

OT Question: Have you fouled a plug yet with the alky/methanol injection?

This is a "daily driver" tune, running between 11.3:1 and 11:1 with fairly conservative timing numbers on 25 psi of boost. I did some spool up testing the other day, and I am reaching 24 psi by 5,000 RPM in 3rd and 4th gear. In 4th gear I have 21.8 psi by 4,500 RPM. I have no idea how much altitude would effect the usefulness of the GT35R. Sorry I can't help you on that.

Keith

PS: Always ask what people define as "full boost" and what gear they are doing the pull in. Someone running 30 psi will hit full boost later than someone running 25 psi on the same turbo, and someone doing pulls in 4th gear will reach full boost sooner than someone doing pulls in 3rd gear.

You run at Milan dragway? I can't wait to see your times

I have not had a problem with fouling plugs, but I have the HKS DLI 2 also. The boost does flutter a bit when the alcohol first starts spraying (between 20 and 23 psi). Not sure if ignition is being effected or if I nead to lean it out a bit in that area. Data logs look good, so I may gap the plugs down just a bit.

With as much VHT as they had down, you have to launch agressive and get a bit of wheel spin or you end up bogging down bad. I am running a new set of stock advans.
