Blow Off Valve Question.

Hey I was wondering if I were to buy a blow off valve (GReddy Type-RS) would I also need to buy the u/ic piping also? The valve on LancerShop says that it comes with everything needed to bolt it on, and that it is easy. Just wondering before I go ahead and do anything.

Thanks.

don't listen to that nonsense. Do what you want, it's your car. My suggestion is call the maker of that bov and ask any question you have, for you see most ppl on here wont have more than a guess for you.

well duh. how many times have you seen on this board DO NOT VTA. then you complain and tell others not to get a BOV. sheesh.

Anyway, Eveolicious, here is the real info you are looking for. You need three parts. The Greddy Type-RS (duh), a Flange Adapter for the evo, and a 34mm recirculation adapter (here or here). I got mine from another vendor that just happened to have two in stock, they are hard to find. not very many seem to be produced. Actually, 500whp.com might have one left!

I also recommend the single spring mod. I did all the above, and have had my Type-RS installed for about a week and love it so far. seems to be holding strong.

Hope this helps

EDIT: it looks like what LancerShop has for "Greddy Type-RS Evo 8 Kit" is all the necessary parts, if the picture is correct. might want to double check with them on that, and if they actually have it. I personally have only made one order with LancerShop, and it will be my last. 500whp.com and ATP are much better vendors

I've never had a type-s, and my type-rs is recirc'd into stock intake, so it is only barely noticable that it is not stock.

I have heard that the type-s has a whistle to it, the type-rs is a pure air 'whoosh' sound. i've never even tried the vta adapter it comes with, but i'm sure its loud. i'll try it some day.

Well the RS is the replacement for the S. so that should tell you something.

mostly i think because it has a larger valve, flows more.

Ok. Thanks for the info. I think I am going to stick with the RS then.. however if I recirc it, is there still a way that it will make the "whoosh"?
