Question How do the Helical LSDs on the 05s compare to the Quaiffe?

How strong do you guys think that the Helical LSDs on the 05s are?And how does it compare to the Quaiffe? I havent heard anyone break one, at least not yet.I know they are a lot stronger than the 03-04 open diffs that so many in here blew

Function wise the 05 helical and quaife are exactly the same. As far as strength goes they are probabaly very close. I don't see how the quaife could be much stronger than the mitsu unless they use beter material on the parts. The weak link on the open diffs is the spider gears themselves.

They appear to be very close. I went with the RS helical over the Quaife due to the fact that they are so similar.

The quaife uses larger gears, which is why the housing is electron beam welded together. The two halves of the stock front LSD are bolted together. The bolts supposedly are the weak link. This is according to RRE.

Let me put it this way... Quaife is the only company that their warranty even applies under race conditions! I know that the Integra Type R had the same type diff. However stepping up to the Quaife made a big difference in traction... esp on the higher hp applications. They use a proprietary gear cut...

However, if you are just a 300 or so hp daily driver, I'm sure the RS unit would be more than enough for you...
