Swapped Upper IC pipes...ALKY QUESTION!!!!!
Swapped Upper IC pipes...ALKY QUESTION!!!!!
I just went back to the stock Upper IC pipe. Now, this means i had to move my alky nozzle back to the metal piping of the stock system, which leaves about 10" of rubber hose between my nozzle and the TB...not to mention a hard left hand turn. Now, on my old upper IC pipe, if i held it at 3k and hit the 'test' button on the alky controller the car would stumble as it should.....with the stock piping, i have to be at 5k to get t his stumble....and even then its a very slight stumble.
Im thinking this is causing me problems. I went back to the stock piping because the pipe i had wouldn't allow me to run the stock intake....
so, my question is, do you guys think its almost impossible for the alky to get into the motor being sprayed so far from the TB and having to make that 90* turn? Is it possible to install the jet into the rubber part of the plumbing, or would it leak?
anyone got a stock upper IC pipe i can get? i just need the metal section that starts around the air box and the soft pipe that attaches it to the throttle body. Id like to do some testing!

from all i have heard it should be the far back to help with atomization... it shouldnt make a diff where had to put it know... but thats me... unless something is wrong with the noozle.. you could mount it in the rubber hose, just drill a hole half the size of the noozle and then use gasket sealer on the threads.. it wont come out.. i had this done for my 03 with the stand-alone.. i needed to mount the a.i.t. sensor there.. i did not come out.. thats all i got..
So you can mount the AIT sensor and the sprayer nozzle right into the silcon couplers? I thought the pressure would rip them right out.

well, i know the nozzle is fine. I took the coupling off and hit the test button, sprays a nice hard mist of alky.
but, i know it made a difference where i put it because by doing that, the car doesn't stumble when holding 3k rpms and hitting hte test button like it should....but it is spraying, i have verified that. Im just worried its not getting into the motor as good as it should be.
Anyone have their stock Upper IC pipe they wouldn't mind parting with? Ill give ya a few bones for it....

mine stayed in without any probs.. just have to make a very small hole and force it in there...

i just need the top half of the upper IC piping, as in, the aluminum part where the bov connects and the coupler to the throttle body.
whats that worth? 20 bucks shipped?

Jeff those map I sent to you were done with the stock intercooler pipes, the injector
was rite before the black rubber hose near the throtle body. The test button
would takea second. I changed to a hard pipe installed the injector about 5 in.
from the throtle body now as sone as I hit the test button it bogs.

yeah, same things here except i did it the other way, went from a hard pipe back to stock.
i don't feel like as much alky is getting into the motor, which concerns me. I would like to try to install the jet in the rubber right before the TB and see if it leaks or how it does...
