had an issue with the car this morning

i was on the interstate heading to work doing around 65 mph then i decided to pass a tractor trailer, so i punch the gas full throttle (wanted to pass the truck as quick as possible), the car accelerate for about one second then the engine cut off and came back on in a split second. felt like a big miss fire but i don't think it was. the car made a loud clunk noise from the drive train due to engine hiccups. i almost pulled over to get out and take a look but traffic was too bad so i decided not to. i did a couple of wot pull after that and it seemed fine. i'm not sure what it was but i hope it's not a sign of something bad going to happen to the car soon.

you either hit fuel cut or the rev limiter. Is the weather turning cooler such that maybe you overboosted and hit the fuel cut?

didn't hit rev limiter cause i was in 5th gear at around 3000rpm when i hit the throttle. i didn't take notice at the boost guage when it happend, but it was around 21-22 psi on the pulls i did afterward. the weather has been cold for the last month or so, around high 30's to low 40's degree. not sure how boost cut works on mitsu but wouldn't the custom flash removed that.

You hit fuel cut, plain and simple. This is very common with your level of mods. Your TT reflash should have adjusted that stock safety feature so this wouldn't happen. Call them and see if you can send them your ecu to get rid of it. If not, send your ecu to Vishnu and they can take care of it for you.

It had to be fuel cut, the only other thing it could have been is that you didn't have enough RPM's to handle that boost and then the car just simply bogged. But I doubt that was what happened, definetely had to be fuel cut.

I think you just overboosted and didnt even realize it. 5th tends to overboost because there is so much load. Has happened to me before, were you watching you boost gauge as it happened?

i wasn't looking at the boost gauge when it happened but my boost has never been pass 22 psi. it was probably fuel cut, i just didn't expect it because it never happened to me before. i'm glad it's not something mechanical.

Ive hit fuel cut numerous times right after i put in my boost controller, had that sucker cranked too high, probably over 26 psi on stock ecu, needless to say it hit fuel cut pretty quick in 2nd gear. Iv'e only hit it once since then when it got cold so i just turned the hallman back a bit and its all good now.
This used to happen in my Typhoon ALL the time. it was brutal.

Could it have just been an engine back fire due to maybe too much pressure in the cylinders at not enough engine speed? Ive seen that happen a lot before, especially on SRT-4's since they tend to overboost at lower RPM's and spool really quickly. I know its a different car but they both have engines and function the same. Just a guess i'm taking, even though i'm pretty sure it was fuel cut.

a misfire would not be that noticable at that speed and rpm. it was absolutly fuel cut. ur flash shouldve taken care of this like they said. dont worry about it man. if it was misfire it probably wouldve caused a check engine light also, which he did not mention!

what you said is very true, but I have seen very bad engine back fires that actually halt your car. But like I said it was fuel cut and I know, but I'm just throwing out any other possibilities incase it was not fuel cut, but i'm 99.9% sure it was fuel cut.
