Which WASTEGATE ACTUATOR to Get?

Well my stock Wastegate Actuator has been messed up for some time now, I'm trying to look into getting a new one.

Now I see 2 aftermarket ones options available to me.

The FORCED PERFORMANCE wastegate actuator:
http://linux.forcedperformance.net/m...ode=Lancer_EVO
for $165

and

The FORGE MOTORSPORT wastegate actuator:
http://www.forgemotorsport.com/conte...roduct=FMEVACT
for $160 from Stikiller.com (http://www.stikiller.com/product.php...age=1&featured)

The price difference is really nothing. The fact that the FP one looks like stock doesn't benefit me much as my car basically has no warranty anymore lol..

I was wondering which one is better? Or if there are any reason not to get one over the other?

Let me know what you guys think.

Thanks!

I've heard nothing but good on the FORGE piece- plus I think it looks more sturdy. I'm looking to get one myself. There's nothing like killing the boost taper for good!

I personally can vouch for the Forge Motorsport unit. It holds boost much better than the stock actuator, combined with the UNOS boost controller taper is cut to a minimum. The unit itself is very sturdy being completely billet. It also looks great and the springs can be swapped out for different base boost levels.

^Agreed. I was one of the first people in the US to get the forge WGA on the evo and I've loved it every since.

Although I run the FP unit, there is little denying the adjustability of the Forge... However, I've not needed, nor wished for any adjustability in my wastegate actuator. All you can adjust over the FP actuator is the spring pressure. I've got my actuator set to hold 18-19psi on spring pressure alone.

From what I know four things help kill the boost taper- I've tested two...

1. Stock BOV (possibly the biggest factor)- the stocker is plastic and leaks
2. Adding an QUALITY Mbc- this assists in the amount of bosst that the wastegate see's.
3. The wastegate itself.
4. Reflash

The forge one is shinny.

I was very happy after I had mine installed. At 25PSI the taper is very minimal.

We sell the Forged wastegate actuator and one of our own. The forged unit is adjustable and comes with a variety of springs, plus the rod is still adjustable. Nice if you are going to be changing boost levels and such.

The other we sell is a modified stock actuator that is actually taken apart and has a heavier spring installed. This actuator is rated at 26 psi, very heavy duty. Recommend it for race gas or alky use only. You cannot tell that it is not stock.

So we basically have 3 to choose from depending on ones needs
  1. Forge WG act - adjustable
  2. Forced Performance WG act - adjustable, looks stock
  3. Buschur WG act - Stock housing and diaghram with stiffer spring, looks stock, not recommended 23 or less psi boost control.
On the adjustable units, besides adjusting the linkage length and changing springs, is there another way for adjustment, like dialing in the tension (similar to the Forge RS bov)?
