272 Cams work in the IX? Ideas - thoughts?

I had someone purchase my 8 and I recently moved into a RS white 9. I am curious to know with the MIVEC - if running cams, specifically 272's, will work?

I understand the intake cam is retarded/advanced w/ the OEM oil pressure cam gear - but if I run 272s - I want to prevent the valves from getting slapped by the piston - which I dont think would happen with 272's even if the cam was serverly adv/retarded by the MIVEC. But I would feel better knowning if someone has actually installed a set of cams in a IX? I assume the head is pretty much the same - meaning, 8 cams should fit.

Any help - ideas?

I would hold off on that. The intake cam is different considering the cam is retarded or advanced by oil that passes through the cam to the adjuster. the VIII cams make no provisions for this passage. from what I understand HKS is brewing up some goodies for the 9

That's what I was thinking - pretty much knew the exhaust cam would be a direct swap from the 8's - but wasnt sure about the intake. On my new engine, it appears only the cam gear and surrounding profile is different - while the cam itself is pretty much the same - in appearance. Now, I could be way off base here. But there is really no way to tell for sure unless HKS or whomever has completed the swap.

I suppose I could be patient - but what fun is that?
