How well is a one off untested manifold going to compare to one thats been built from a half dozen different prototypes, each one different with different results and countless hours of engineering put into each prototype?
The stock evo intake manifold is very very good. Just because someone throws something together that looks good, there's a very good chance it may perform worse than stock, as is the case with many untested products.
Our intake manifold is $899 for a reason. Not because we are making more money on it than everyone else is, if anything that is probibly furthest from the truth. We have put tons of time in making this thing as good as it can be and each one has more money in parts in it than probibly any other intake manifold on the market.
If this thing were for a Porsche or some car of that genre, we could easily sell it for 2-3k and people would happily buy them up faster than we could build them.

The main reason i would say i would get a custom one done is because if it cracks or breaks im out 900 bucks with the custom setup i would have a new one the next day as part of the warranty that the shop that makes it backs it up with.
