throw out bearing question

What exactly is it? Do we need to change it if we upgrade to a twin plate clutch? just want to know if its a mitsubishi part that you can just get or its only made for that specific clutch?

Unless you are adapting to a push type clutch, the only release bearing available for the EVO is the stock one. I don't think Exedy uses a different bearing on their twin/triple plate clutches. Exedy has a design patent on this particular pull type design (the attachment to the pressure plate), so you are not going to see other competing designs.

But wouldnt you just go ahead and purchase any ways for cheap insurance and while you already got it a part go ahead and put in a new one.
