If block is same I am pretty sure you can...It will be honda world all over again lol, but more than likely you will have to make sure harness can accept mivec ecu or get engine management..

The EVO9 is too new to for someone to get actual parts to attempt this. Do you know how much it will cost to do this. It will be alot cheaper to trade your car in for a 9. Also the 9 just came out and i don't think you will find one in a junkyard to source the necessary parts to do this.

Cheaper to trade it for a 9? Not so sure about that the way these cars hold value (or not). in 6-9 months this will be more common I would think... Take an 03 with typical mileage and trade it on a new 9...

Another comment/question here is would you even need the entire head or can you fit the MIVEC cam gear and associated parts? Heck, you might even be able to use some standalone EMS (AEM, etc) to run this setup without moving to the 9 ECU..... For someone that already has a deep investment in an 03 or such there may be some options... Anyone? Seems like this should be possible, right? Just a thought...

I am also interested in this possibility in the future. I really dont see how trading in for a new IX would be cheaper. Especially if you had a problem with your VIII head and/or you were looking to upgrade your head anyways. I mean if you already had money set aside for cams and head upgrades and put that towards mivec I don't see it being to outragous. Time will tell though I guess. I think the big tell will be when the X comes out, since the IX will only have a run of 1-2 years.
