Those running HKS 272's with no gears
I just ordered a set of HKS 272's. I will be running these with no cam gears for right now, or for a little while until i get some more $$ to put myself back on my feet.
Just wondering what should I expect? I know loping will be expected, but anything else? As far as fuel mods I am running A walbro 255 HP fuel pump, and a SAFCII. You guys think i will be able to balance it out for a while like this?? I plan on going to Dyno4mance on Sept 4th for a few dyno runs with WB so that way I can tell what I am maybe putting down, as well as maybe tune my a/f ratio a little. Any help or thoughts and opinions will be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Its not so much the lope, though its there, its the hunting that the ECU does to find a mixture with the cams and the overlap it has.. You should be able to get satisfactory results with the S-AFC and upgraded fuel pump / injectors.. But the best way is to go with some sort of engine management.. But for the short term, you'll be just fine if you can tolerate an occasional stall when the A/C is running..

Is it the SAFCII that you have?? Thats what I have, but hopefully I will experience the same that you say. Are there any certain type of settings you are running on the AFC to make it not stall??

With my cam gears set at 0/0 the car idles pretty rough but I actually like the sound of it. Sounds very aggresive. I havent had any stalling issues either with just the Dynoflash.
