my dreams crushed

I just recently purchased this from a rebuildable dealer.Unfortunatly, i could not really afford to buy a new evo. Hoped i would be saving some money purchasing a deal like this.I thought i got lucky with this one.It was in South Dakota,Well i live in south west Missouri. So my buddy and i made arrangements to pic it up(road trip).I just knew it would be worth it.Well after a few months of slowly getting a part here and a part there,i am ready to put the body back together.I purchased the AMS intercooler,Ams licp,Koyo aluminum radiator, new headlights and all the new body parts. We all now that stuffs not cheap(i'm so broke).Next week was going to be the big day when i get my car together.Until this,I find out the block is cracked. Can you believe this? The crack runs from the bottom of the head to the freeze plug, then down behind the power steering pump. What do i do now?anyone now where i can find a low milage motor and how much will that cost?

Damm, just save up or see if you can get a stroker, tell the vendor that there is a crack in the block. What was wrong with the car originally?

The previous owner wrecked it and the insurance payed it off.The rebuilder center that i purchased it from told me (before i gave them any kind of deposit)that the motor and trans was good. With only 17,000 miles i thought it was.

These guys will deliver a new OEM short block with gaskets for around $2400 without a core, $1800 with Iirc.

$1000 should R & R it.

Ahh, but he has no core. Isn't David's core charge around $800?
