Big turbo guys with o2 open dump??

hey guys, im going to order a gt35r kit and im hunting for one of the companys to route the 02 dump into the dp before they send it to. some are saying they wont and some want to charge like 150 -200 extra. my question is how loud is the open dump. I know it loud, but is it like OMFG loud? also i was told that from wg opening (approx 14 psi) that you loose about 3-4 hp for every psi of boost with it routed back in. so at 28 psi id be loosing like 45 - 50 whp. any feedback would be great. btw, im looking into the peak boost kit. thanx

I'm not sure about power lose from dumping into the dp but I can tell you its very loud not too. You will only hear it at full boost.

I think that is a bit harsh from power loss, however I did see a 350Z TT with around 600whp gain 30whp by routing to atmosphere. Its not OMFG loud, its just LOUD, no worse than an exhaust like Helix or Buschur ya know. Plus, an open dump just sounds mean and badass and its only that loud when your going WOT.

Save your money, make more power and just get it routed to the atmoshpere. Thats my $0.02

When I build turbo systems, I always route the wastegate back into the downpipe. If it's not a dedicated race car, I don't see the need for all the extra noise! My theory has always been, if you blend the tube into the downpipe at least 9" away from the flange area and create a "bologna cut" inside, you will create a low pressure (I think low pressure) area to draw the wastegate gas through the downpipe. Even if my wording is incorrect, I do have some very fast turbo'd street cars rolling around with the wastegate dumped back into the downpipe.

Hope this helps some

I don't know about some of you but its pretty loud, I run the t-back from Buschur and when my wastegate opens it is damn loud. You can't hear anything else but the exhaust from the wastegate at 19-22psi. Now when you go over 25 psi and up to 28psi or so it doesn't seem as loud becuase not as much exhaust is going out the dump, it is being used to keep the pressure up.

Bottom line its d@mn loud. If you don't want it loud re-route it back in but I recommend doing it in the O2 dump and not the down pipe but if so before the flex section if you are not adding one in the dump pipe. The cost is bs if the company is building the kit for you but if you do it afterwards 100 is about the norm 200 is kind of high in my opinion.

As in hp loss this all depends on the O2 and Dump configuration that is on the car.

If you were running a cat or a restrictive exhaust, I could see where some hp could be lost. On my car (w/ the 48mm wastegate & 2.25" dump pipe), the exhaust volume increases about 25% when the wastegate opens and mine is routed back into the downpipe. I can't imagine how loud it would be open. When upgrading the turbo the exhaust get really loud anyways.

Its really personal perference. You can always get routed back later down the road.
