There are many important things relating to business that I have learned and always try to strive for. Here are a few of the most important:
a) Keep it as local as possible.
b) Make decisions that you can sleep on.
c) Always try to do better.
d) Treat others how you would want to be treated.
e) When something goes/is wrong, do what you can to make it right.
f) Don't expect anything...show that you deserve it.
David, if this was a test question relating to Buschur Racing, the answer would be "g) all of the above". It has been great doing business with you and I look forward to next week and many more years to come. There are not a lot of people/businesses out there that recognize and strive to continue to do business "the American way". You define it.
P.S. You to J-Rod

BUT, the main reason why I am against Chinese imports is becuase the China goods are made in a society which does not honor human rights, environmental laws, economic norms and fair play. Basically the government in China is very effectively promoting its business's competition at any cost. They will lokc disenters in jail and execute them. They polute the earth and depleate resources.
Personally, I think long and hard before I will buy anything made in China and I always take american goods over chinese.
The fact remains that building things in the USA paying decent wages that someone can live on and support their family means that USA goods are more costly.
Either US workers will have to work 7 days a week 16 hours a day for 1/2 the current wages or we will loose against China - guaranteed. There is no way that we can maintain our current standards and norms of existance if our goods must compete with the chinese goods.
One last observation - the China govt does NOT allow its currency to trade on open markets and limits devaulation to tiny percentages a day.
PS - I support the UK, Italy, Germany, Japan and all other members of a civilized and democratic world society which support human rights and liberty.
China is a very unfair and dishonest society and I will not support its trade and business.

This was one of your most intelligent posts I have read in a long time. As I was reading your post I was wondering if you would touch upon China's unfair devaluation of their currency, and BAM! You nailed it. Great post.

I dont know if hes working under the table or not. If he was on the books it would be 10x worse. He'd get taxed up the *** and hardly get any of it. I think hes an immigrant, probably not even legal.

But if he's working 40 hours of OT, he will get taxxed but he will make more then just a plain 6. Isn't 6 way under min over there? Please he can get a lot of it back, unless he's not a citizen.
The things I would do with 96 mil a day...

What a joke this state is. Yeah he could get a lot back if he's a citizen, this is true.
these are good thots... it's a shame you don't get to fully develope your parts for longer so you can see the effects of long term wear or test larger volumes to see variations from unit to unit. cuz that's the real problem with the whole ics and dps not clearing and turbos. the fact is... that eventually you fix it, that's important! and the nature of the industry is that you gotta come out with stuff fast and first, you're known for that. people look to you for that. as long as the buyer is aware...
now seriously... about china... i think this is the first time i've seen someone treat the subject with deep thought, a sound sense of intelligence, respect, nationalism, pride and honor. i'm glad you said what you said.
in the end... i'm as patriotic as military men, i'm not white american, i'm a hyphenated american, but the united states has given me lots that i cna't imagine living without and it gives the same to the people that i love and i'd gladly die to protect that. but what hte united states lacks is a sense of pride in what we produce.
why? mostly cuz america is run by a bunch of greedy bastage, these greedy people have no concept of pride or honor, no idea of loyalty. why do movies like office space exist, sure it's a damn funny movie but it really points out the truth of american incorperation, industry and commercial. it's inhumane... and that's waht happens when you let greedy people take over the upper echelons of government and industry.
i'm gonna say this last part because it's history repeating itself. in 70s and 80s chrystler closed down a lot of plants in the usa, there were many anti japanese sentiments not only from wars past but also from the fact that these imported cars were displacing american product. so a father and son duo ended up takin' it out on a CHINESE guy (vincent chin), murdering him the night of his bachelor party. now there's a whole string of injustices that follows this but that's not my point. my point is that these men, these union workers, these "americans" took their anger and frustration to the wrong place. and i feel that happens SO much today even on this very board.
you want change, you want justice, you want accountability? we need to make change in AMERICA, cuz it's AMERICANS that are shafting "us". greedy people that only know the bottom line, that don't care about who has to take care of how many kids and have health care for how mnay people. AMERICANS need to have PRIDE in what they produce. and if we as individual consumers DECIDE to keep money IN AMERICA, then we'll buy american. why does the "made in ...." label even exist... so we KNOW, so we can support america...
but that's the problem america... you don't care... you're after you're bottom line too, cuz in the end... so few care about honor and loyalty and dignity, cuz they bought into the world of accountants too. if we kept money in america, if we kept from buyin' stuff produced overseas by greedy companies that wanna exploit cheap labor where THERE IS NO RULES then WE WOULD WIN! but that requires payin' attention... that requires research... that requires being AWARE!!!!
it's not a problem of the countries that are producing... if china shut it's doors tomorrow, you know what would happen? these bloodsucking mother****er companies would go to the phillipine's, cambodia, thailand, ANYWHERE ELSE, they might even start settin' up capital in tehse places without rules... they're there to EXPLOIT and that's it... WE have to fix this... it's about making companies like that go down.
but this even happens in america... wallmart don't do this for their employees... yet we still shop at wallmart...

As we watch Ford and GM fall apart and sink into junk bond status - the might of US manufcaturing is dead. The retirement we all looked forward to is ending.
Everytime I think of buying China made goods I think of the lost usa jobs
We have a great country filled with great people and I try and support made in usa as much as I can

do you understand that you have the lifestyle you ****in' lead because OTHERS ARE PERPETUATED INTO LOWER STANDARDS OF LIVING?????????? we live the way we do cuz others starve, cuz others die, cuz others don't **** in a toilet and read at NIGHT. man oh man oh man oh man oh man... sometimes i just can't take what you say man.
damnit... then you gotta talk about hte norms of existence... you arrogant man. do you know what the norm of existence in china is? you know nothing. you know nothing and yet you speak. you wanna know what hte INTERNATIONAL "NORM OF MOTHER****ING EXISTENCE" IS? you think ti's anywehre close to the posh lifestyle SO MANY LEAD in america? you know nothing... yet you speak...
do you even know why china WOULD have a limitation on currency? why? because they're currency was NOT INTERNATIONAL. the rmb is originally a communist currency not only unrecognized by other nations but also only good for food. what else did china have before? before they milked their living capital to make industrial capital? only NOW that they've developed into something the world will recognize can they even SPEAK of trading currency... and you're all buttsore about it when you didn't give a **** about it when the chinese were starving. do you care about nigerian currency?... heh hardly...
america is an unfair and very dishonest governing power... just look at the war in iraq.

This has actually been very interesting. David I know your very busy with all the work you do but if you get the chance I would recomend a book called The World is Flat by Thomas L. Friedman. Actually all you guys should check it out. It explains a lot about how globalization and the internet has complete flattened the world. I agree with a lot of things on this thread. I think the two thing that is hurting us the most is the cost or lack of government health care and education. Looking at GM compared to Toyota and the health care thing proves to be a large part of the problem. The consumer reports about the top 10 cars in america 5 of them are built here in america. I just don't know if it is going to stay that way because Toyota or Honda can't rember which are staring to move plants to canada because of health care. In his book he says that globalization is good for us but, only if we are smart enough to take advantage of it. Hence the recent push by Bush for education(all the girls in science commercials), even though the government cut grants and loan doesn't make a lot of sense to me. If we just spent a little less on the millitary(I'm in the Air Force) and a little more on the American people I think we would end up making America a much better place. Education is the key to making us better.
Thanks for the good post guys it has been intresting to get your views on this topic, and Thanks David for making great parts. I have your exhaust and it rocks.

america has no value for education, intelligence, academia, knowledge or anything about living capital. it's all about money, bottomline, numbers, accounting.
we actually import our intellectuals these days. if you look in high technology and science, very many phd candidates are foreign. why? cuz america has the first mover's advantage. they had lots of land, lots of resources. they put it together and became the big super power. so we may not have the people to fill all our high science intellectual positions... but we sure have the money to support them. so of course... foreign intellectuals come here to get phds, because in the country they came from the budget for the entire year is what we use in one day in any of our research institution universities.
america is made of immigrants but at hte same time in our very "flat" world today the amount of loyalty vested in any country is wavering, with such ease of international mobility how can you secure living capital? how can you secure cultural and intellectual capital? einstein left germany... look what happened.
until america wakes up and starts producing its OWN intellectual living capital... until someone realizes this is important, instead of tv and the terminator as my governor (cuz that's aparently what americans value, the american idol is a freakin' tv show for goodness sake).
and this is just a humungous problem cuz it perpetuates itself. since america has not valued education for so long... look where it's landed us. everyone is just sitting on their couch letting hte time pass by, they don't care... they're not aware, they make dumb decisions and write things off that SHOULD really require deep thought, things htat affect their lives on HUGE levels but since they only pass a glance at it, they make no efforts and no decisions and pass no deep thoughts.
i'm in LA so at least in metropolitan areas the level of awareness is larger. but there's not that many metropolitan areas in the united states... at least not more htan there are NON metropolitan areas. no one is waking up... and this cycle seems endless. even in metropolitan schools we have troubles... what about the midwest... what about the south? will they never receive the opportunity of education to learn about equality, the face paced world etc. how are we gonna produce an america where we make something great, every person if no one even knows what's going on.
