Transfercase Fluid....Still Unanswered
Transfercase Fluid....Still Unanswered
Just The Facts Please!!!!!
I am not one to keep beating a dead horse, but just don't feel that this issue has fully been answered. Please don't think that i am trying to be a smartass or trying to start a pissing match, just seeking knowledge. Why is everyone so hell-bent on the Mitsubishi Diaqueen LSD Gear Oil for the TC and rear diff?
Please feel free to correct if I am wrong. This oil has a/an API GL5 rating, so when oil companys manufacture a gear oil and are wanting it to be GL5 rated, there are criteria that they have to meet in order to get this rating from the API (American Petroleum Institue), ..........right?
If this is true then why won't other oils with the same rating work? (ie: Redline, Royal Purple, Mobil, AMSoil, ect....) These are well known companys that produce "quality oils".
Why is everyone claiming catastrophic failure with other fluids that are API rated the same?
Thank You to all that help.
some people feel that there oil has blown up there trans.. but i have yet to see someone with proof that an oil was the case... there might be but i doubt it... my exp. is this. mobil works good but only seems to last 6000 mi. factory about the same.. r.p or amsoil seem to be on the top of the food chain so i would be using them.. i have tried 4 diff kinds in my tranny, mobil was the best, but i think r.p. will be my oil of choice for now on...
people have tried other fluids than the diaqueen with bad results....diaqueen has proven to be the best...call ur local dealer if they dont have it in stock it only takes a couple days to get
cheers
cheers
its cuz if ur diff goes bad and they see you use something besides mitsubishi branded parts they will void your warrenty any way they can. ppl there days just dont have any damn common sense.
if its working why change it? the only fuild people use differently is tranny fluid...if its smooth y bother? if its kinda notchy then trying something new is a good idea
use something other than daiqueen in the transfer case and I heard you will be buying a new one. A few people on evo ny used the redline fluids and in turn had transfer case replaced. The tranny on the other hand you can use bg sycoshift 2(got it at mitsu dealer), penzoil sycromesh or the oem tranny fluid. Im doing my fluids next weekend and gonna run daiqueen($50 at dealership for a gallon-you don't need that much and the bg syncroshift 2 in the tranny) YOu can also get these @ lancershop and some other online evo retailers. The daiqueen and sycoshift are tested tried and true from what i heard so thats why Im going with that combo.

Wow this is confusing. I need to change fluids also but cant make a decision.
It looks like the Royal Purple or Dia Queen are the way to go. Has anyone had a bad experience with one of these?
