Help diagnosing a friends Evo
How loud is the "ticking"? Are you sure it's not "lifter tick" like most other Mitsu models get?
I'd start with an oil and filter examination and a compression test.
You could use an oil testing service like "Black Stone Labs" if you really want some insite on what's happening.

ive given a suggestion, go from there its your best bet. we dont know how the ticking sounds, only you do. doing a compression test and cylinder leakdown, you will tell if the major engine components are within specs. just do it and let us know before you u ask for more help. it will help you and us.
