compresion test pretty bad, but how bad is it?

allright guys i have done 2 compresion tests over the past week. the first one was cold witch is'nt a good test but might have some relavance
test #1
#1=180
#2=180
#3=160
#4=180

so that did'nt look good but considering it was a cold test i thought eh, its not that bad either. i thought the compresion would come up at operating temp but it did not, it whent down
test#2
#1=180
#2=180
#3=130
#4=180

so now i am left wondering is this most likely a valve starting to become an issue? the car burns no oil, i can go 3k miles and not add once with no change to the dipstick reading, has no metal shavings in oil what so ever, and still seems to be running pretty good. i do have 272 cams so that might have contributed but i am not sure, what do you guys think?

Well besides that one bad cylinder the rest are really good. I don't think it's a valve because if you have an open valve you'd get 0 compression. Try adding some oil to the cylinder and retest see how it affects your bad cylinder. The cams arent to blame reguardless and if they were they'd affect all cylinders. Good Luck.

add some oil, if the number goes up, its a ring.. if it doesnt its either a headgasket, or valve problem..

Do you have an 03? If so, its a very, very common "issue" for cyl 3 to be 20 psi or so lower than the others. Try checking compression a few more times and make sure you have the throttle plate 100% open when doing it.

My car has the same "problem". Cylinder #3 generally runs hotter than the other cylinders, so in turn it may be a bit tougher on the rings. It's really nothing to worry about if the car runs good. My Evo puts down roughly 350HP on a Dynojet with pretty much the same results as yours.

How many time are you supposed to turn the starter?

My #'s increase until I reach 7 starter turns - 190-191-190-194 (every time).
If I do 4 turns, it's like 10 psi less on ea.

Also, after four turns I allways get a pop!. Is that normal?

your probably about 190 across. that is very good. The pop noise is normal. I see lots of hi comp hondas hit about 300 lol and it always pops because the guage is maxed out.

Last time I checked my 05, I was 185 - 180 - 185 - 186

Leak down test too, came out fine, no leaking.

This was with 18k at the time of the test, 7 open track events, 3 in over 100 degree heat.
