A turn or two MIGHT help, but tighten it down too much and you will have issues with it not opening up enough! It would be better to go with an actuator with a higher spring rate.

Keep in mind stock wastegate actuator diaghram isn't really designed to opporate with more than 19 psi, tightening the spring will increase actuation pressure.

A broken WGA will cause unregulated boost.

Mine is still stock and kinda worrys me having it tightened. Darn it, thanks for reminding me I need a WGA upgrade.

Ok, my car gets tunned tomorrow, Im sure Al will and always has done everything in the past to help me out, even on the spot. I guess i should rewrite the question. Has anyone had boost holding issues at say 28psi with the stock actuator in the stock setting? and will adjusting it help. thanks again guys. Also when get to Al tomorrow my motor will be hot from the drive down there, so I would like to fix it before hand. thanks again.

Your best bet might to have Al bring you an actuator for what you are trying to do... how about you call him.

Yes, but less than 28.

Before I tightened preload, I would taper in first and second up top as if I had a boost leak. tighened act preload and taper mostly gone. (held 20 psi practically to redline in 1st gear).

So yes that baby allows the WG to crack open when exhaust flow is high.

I cant imagine at 28 psi, thats alot. I bet the thing is probably half open while still building.

are you using a EBC or MBC?

on a mbc, the "little wg reset hole" on the mbc wg nipple is too small to allow pressure to escape/wg to stay close------>leading to boost tapering.

either drill the "little wg reset hole" out OR tee a adjustable needle valve onto the MBC/WG hose to bleed pressure off to lessen tapering.

Keep in mind that you can't adjust the actuator rod unless you remove the lower heat shield, and that's not easy if you have the radiator in the car.
