Clutch blew up, need a little input.

Recently my RRE No Name clutch blew up. I mean literally fell apart. So I am quickly in the market for another.

I have been a member here for a while and thus have read just about all of the clutch threads. So "search" is not going to help me.

Here are my choices ACT HD Street disk with lightened flywheel or Exedy twin. This is a daily driver, and I am looking for opinions, from people who have owned one or both under similar circumstances. What is going to cost me more in the long run, including labor? How long will an Exedy last? ACT? How noisy is the Exedy? My No Name was pretty darn noisy. This is the first time I've ever had issuse with clutches in any car, so I don't feel like my driving style is hard on them.

My long term goals are to get a 2.3 with a GT35. Should I look to the future now or just sit on the cash until it's time for the stroker.

I don't drag race, and my mods are below.

i would say the twin disk i have driven with one and its not that bad. its almost like stock and it should hold the 2.3 with 35R. i have the same mods right know and i drag all the time and my clutch is fine. why do you think that your blew up? how many miles are on your car? good luck man

I honestly have no idea. I don't street or drag race. My car has 33000 miles. 1 previous owner who had put a six puck on it, then I put the No Name on thinking that RRE stuff was good.

I would recommend another choice, but I don't know if you just wanted to choose between the two you mentioned. If you are open to other suggestions, then I highly recommend the ats twin plate carbon. It is fantastic. Very little noise, stock like pressure once broken in and will support as much hp as you can possibly throw at it, plus it would be the last clutch you should ever have to buy.

Open to all input. The the two clutches I named have the best reputation and most credible cars using them.

Rememeber that the Exedy Twin includes a chromoly flywheel, so you don't have to buy it separately.

Well man let me begin by telling you if you didnt figure it out already which you have the RRE clutch sucked T-Total ***! I bought this clutch after my stocker went thinking RRE o yeah it will be great..... Well soon after i found it was not this clutch was a real disappointment and it ended voiding my warranty anyway. Well after about 20k on the RRE clutch 20k of sucky *** miles i went to the ACT clutch and would do it all over again! BTW 700$ is such a rip off for the install i did mine in about 8 hours on jackstands. I had never done a Transverse type clutch before this and had no problems.... Pretty much now that i have done an 05 as well as my 03 its no sweat....

Go with the ACT and forget about it............
