Help with removing front half shafts

Started to install my quaiffe front diff today, and got as far as pulling the front halfshafts. i can't get the shaft out of the transfer case on the passenger side. I haven't gotten medieval on it yet, just pried out the axle cup (per the quaiffe install instructions in the "how-to" section). should i just be able to pull it out or does it require some more serious persuasion? thanks in advance...
