Shep Stage1 T.C.

Just wondering if anyone on here is running a Shep stage1 transfer case, and if so how it's been holding up?

Also, for those of you that don't run it, do you know if this will fix a T.C. wine, and is this a good bang for the $.

As it seems, I'm going to get screwed on a car I bought, and I'm not ognna have a lot of money for a new T.C. so if my T.C. is wining ,should this fix the issue?
Seems like a good bang for the buck if you have no money and it will fix the problem.

Thoughts, ideas, and answers are appreciated, Thanks.

I have the Stage 1 transfer case that is fully REM/Cryo treated. It has been a great transfer case for me and taken a fair amount of abuse without a hitch. I highly recommend it. No whine what so ever, and completely changed the car in turns having a Ralliart LSD.

On a side note I recently got my Ultimate Ratio transmission from Shepherd Transmission, that I am really excited about installing. I previously had a full build all option transmission with stock Evo 8 gearing that was a dream to shift. Breaking two lower clutch lines in a year caused some syncro damage during a few spirited shifting events so I decided to get that repaired and opted for the Ultimate Ratio transmission.

John was a complete pleasure to deal with and gave me great pricing and a ridiculously fast turn around time on all 3 builds I have had him do (1 TC build and 2 transmission builds). You cannot go wrong with John, he’ll answer any question you throw at him and will not direct you in the wrong direction.

I had a stage 1 TC and a tranny - I don't really have anything good to say about the experience. I'm not going to point fingers or blame, but there were several issues. Main reason I'm driving a X right now.

For your case, if your transfer case is whining, you may have to replace the ring and pinion. This is about $1000+ just for the part. All the stage 1 TC does is replace the spider gears to special ones and some other minor work. As long as your ring and pinion are good you won't have any issues.

Yes, however "insanechief" bumped the thread and asked about it as he/she is sending their TC out soon. That is why I replied.

I think your best bet would be to rebuild yours yourself.
