tbe = loss in power
tbe = loss in power
hey guys all i have is a tanabe concept g blue TBE and no tune no nothing, i think i lost power. Sounds correct? I guess until i get to turbortrix to get tune after my other mods is where ill feel the power?
well you would think if it got new a TBE, the evo would breathe easier thus netting more power BUT.. I remember in one of the Best Motoring vids i saw, someone mentioned something about when you mod (Exhaust wise) your evo.. You tend to lose power in the mid range..

im getting my flash next week, i'll let you guys know how much of a difference it makes. i currentyl have a tbe unflashed, and it already pulls harder top end. so can't wait to see what it's like after.
Mine lost power, because at the same exact time the stock boost solenoid failed... so I was boosting like 12 psi, and I lost .5 whp meaning the exhaust improved it a bunch... after a flash, fixing the boost problem, and dropping in a K&N I gained 70 whp over stock.
IX's have been proven to have little to no gain in power with a TBE unless they are tuned for it. The VIII was different I believe where the ECU responded better to an exhaust without a tune. Either way you should get it tuned and then you will notice a huge difference.

I think you should just get more power everywhere regardless of tune. It sure seemed like I did with my BR TBE. Is your exhaust a true 3" from DP through the muffler, with no neck downs at all? If you get a genuine 3" TBE, I believe there is no loss of power anywhere, only gains.

Even running with no exhaust you will see gains. There is enough resistance with just the downpipe. You will see gains I just doubt you will be able to say, "O man my car is so much faster with the exhaust".
