- is it worth it to get these 2 items?.....

going for my aem ems tune in a week..

this is what i got so far-

-Aem ems
-3" downpipe
-cat delete
-3" titanium to megan muffler
-255 fuel pump
-comp 280 cams
-02 housing
-hks rs intake

my question is, is it worth it to get the megan exhaust manifold and a set of fidanza cam gears?

Port and coat your stock manifold to get the most for the least. Cam gears can be useful on the 280s, but you need to know where to set them for having power wherever you prefer it most. However, you'd get far more power out of an alky kit.

I have the manifold and noticed a gain. Theres alot of megan haters but i like there parts. Im not to sure on the cam gears some1 ealse will have to help you on that one. Put i would def. go for the manifold for the money. Good luck

If stock turbo, does it have the 10.5 hotside? You might consider a ported 10.5 as well as the ported stock manifold. Buschur found the ported stock manf to be the equal of most tubular headers when tested on the dyno. You´ll probably want the 10.5 if you´re gonna be using the 280´s. Also, if you´re running the stock, plastic DV, then upgrade to the JDM MR DV or the Forge. An upgraded LICP might help, too, as well as the alky kit.

With those cams, depending on how much boost you intend to run, I'd suggest ARP headstuds too.

There is a current thread in the Vishnu forum about whether or not cam sprocket settings for the HKS and Comp Cams 272 cams are directly transferable as the cam specs aren't identical between the two manufacturers(you may wanna check on whether the HKS and Comp Cams 280 specs are significantly different as well).

Id port and coat the stock manifold instead of getting the megan. Also, like someone said, get the 10.5 turbine housing if you have the 9.8.

You dont need cam gears but they can be useful since you can adjust the powerband to what you like best, ie. more mid range with a paticular setting

who or where do you suggest for having the stock unit ported and coated?

Ive ported cast iron before and its a *****. Especially with a dremel tool, but even with something on a drill..

Buschur, of course, as was already stated and as we've stated in countless threads to include full pictorial and dyno reviews.

Banks, are you running speed density on the AEM EMS (re: HKS SSQV)?

cam gears can be useful with aftermarket cams if you know how to use them.

also, porting your stock manifold would be good, just make sure it matches up to where it hooks up.

they suggested coating it too? not sure if this is to prevent cracking? or help cooling? dont think you need coating but it might be something to look into.
