10.5 hotside w/ o2 housing

im going to buy a 10.5 hotside for my evo 8 since the 20g-9 is way out of my budget. when my turboback is completed is it ideal to purchase a new o2 housing with a 10.5 hotside? is it worth the power gains and will it flow best with a new one. the housing im buying is a 70mm Megan Racing one. thanks.

I plan to do this too. If you don't mind me asking, what did this cost you? I've seen the o2 sell for $60 up to $150.The hotside is also all over the place cost-wise.

You can get the 02 on Ebay for $65+15 shipping. So $80... when you go to ebay type in EVO OUTLET.

Hotside, check out sales in the vendor classifieds, they can be around 225shipped at some places. All together thats only 300 bux and a lot of power! Great 2 mods.

its a really cost effective mod if u put it in yourself, just install it yourself, there is an excellent write-up in the how-to section by superhatch.

I did the 2 mods you're contemplating, both at the same time. Great mods. If it is w/i your budget, purchase the HS already ported from Buschur, otherwise hog it out yourself(I did). Also, it is the moment to have your manf. ported as well, or get the BR ported stock manifold.

Furthermore, it is a good time to do a heavy duty WGA and drill and tap your exhaust manifold for an EGT probe, if you are so inclined. Busy, busy....

maybe it's just me but I didn't notice too big of a difference with ported manifold/hotside and Ebay 02.

Well, we already know the results, as we've seen this o2, the Invidia, and the Ebay dyno'd back-to-back-to-back. The results showed that there is no reason to pay $450 for the Works o2 housing...none whatsoever.

I've been looking at this as well. I already have a custom tune on my 9.8HS/ factory o2.

I know you generally don't need a reflash for exhaust parts but, the HS kind of throws a kink in there.

Do you think I need a tune for it?

Also what type of power gain are we talking here on what is basically a v390 package? 15whp?

I've read on ehre that the hotside alone will get you about 10-12 hp and the ebay 02 gets up to 10-15 hp depending on the level of mods.

I noticed my car seems to have more top end power than it did before and the spool up seems to be quikcer as well. I really haven't hammered on it too much cause I dont' have the primary 02 sensor in right now and it is kinda running like poo poo....

Hopefully I can get the stock 02 sensor out of the stock 02 hosuing or I'll have to buy anther one....

I would really like to see some dyno charts with a 9.8 vs. 10.5+ o2 comparison.
