Im pretty sure its the knock or maf that gets scared by big mean V8's. Thats why if you run against one at an open drag event you let them go first

i read somewhere that the sound sends a big enough disturbance in the air to throw off your maf. you're the first person ive actually heard of that it happened to though.

It doesnt always make you stall. Go get a redneck friend with straight pipes on their fbody and watch as your tac starts to dip.

could'nt you get the hks electronic idle stabilizer and some sort of grounding kit to prevent this from happening again.

If you keep your car up around 2000 RPM it won't stall. That's the only thing that really works. I used to have to do that in the staging lanes at the strip. Now I'm running speed density so I don't have that issue any more.

Huh, my brothers long tube catless mufflerless fbody has never made me stall. But then again, he is usually way behind me

(I kid, I kid -- his car is fast, but his tires just suck.)

I dont see how this could be true. Ive had multiple open header cars right next to me that were so loud my ears were almost bleeding. Never had this happen...

I remember this coming up a while ago on the board, but then it kind of went away - like maybe it was an '03 issue only.

Nah, I think it happens to all Evo's. For example, I was stopped at a light to make a left turn and a harley passes by going straight, as soon as he passed me with his loud motorcycle, my rpm's dipped while I was in neutral and it almost stalled, but it didn't. I have an 06 IX.
