Question funny smell

My EVO has about 250 miles on it, but there is a burning odor that I smell after I get out of the car.

I talked to someone at the dealership and they told me it's normal during the break-in period, and it's probably the brakes ( but it smells more like clutch to me).

Has anyone else experienced this?

Thanks!

This came up after the first set of evo owners received our cars. This is normal and will go away. BTW, if you change your exhaust you will smell a similar resemblance.

Yeah, most weird smells are pretty normal.. Sometimes its the coating from the new parts burning off the exhaust system, sometimes its just paint from areas that are really hot. Sometimes you'll smell a little coolant because of the overflow catch-can. I got concerned just after my first oil change because I smelled burning oil.. Checked everywhere and there wasnt anything.. Probably dripped a little oil on something that would get hot. First thing I checked was the oil filter and the pan-plug's crush washer to see if it was leaking. The metallic smell is sometimes caused by the "contaminents" in the welds on the exhaust system.. I got that just after I had a new exhaust fabbed up on my Neon... Watch your gauges and oil light, and listen for any unusual noises, if you hear anything you never heard before, then have them inspect it.

Thanks guys.

No weird sounds just some odors, but they are not as strong as they were when I first picked her up.

I've been pretty easy on her, but there were a few times that I gave in to temptation, and gave her some gas. I haven't gone to redline though.

What you are smelling is Cosmaline(sp?) ... they coat your engine with it for shipping to protect it and stuff. My WRX smelled for about 1k miles, my Evo8 still smells after 650miles. Itll go away around 1000, dont worry about it
