I've searched and all I can find are threads where people say use the search button, or people have an opinion on wether or not the hotside is a good modification. I want a thread where I can read about somebody who has actually changed their hotside and what they think it did for their car, instead of reading what some guy with a stock Evo thinks it does for my car. Dyno results or track results would be great too.

IMHO a hotside is almost a waste of amod. Why not just get a evo9 turbo or a 20g. If your going to go through changing the hotside now for a few more poines chances are your gonna get bit by the bug and end up putting on a bigger turbo later. I would do cams man. Or some suspension

+1

anyway 272 intake 264 exhaust, meth installed, walbro 255, tune your utec to not lift shift and launch control and ull be a sick street car. or lose the utec and tune it some other way.

cams: 400ish install +150. or do it urself.
meth installed: free (if you do it)
walbro 110ish if you take it somewhere n PAY for an install you know nothing about your car.
tune the utec...free (if you know how to...lol) or about 150-400.

on a dynojet im calling 60+hp and 75-85lb ft. increase. at least.

heres an idea...if you dont like to hear what a guy with a stock evo thinks, dont ***** n complain you dont see anything on the forums. suck it up and spend a couple bills and buy it and play with it. find out the limits on your own...how well does it take to meth, or 50/50...or water injection...how well does it respond to 93 oct as opposed to 91 how much better does it breath/flow? what were your dyno numbers before and after. do like i did, try an anti-lag set up, just try stuff if its never been done. youll never know till you do it yourself anyway.

Just because a guy is stock doesnt mean he doesnt know anything about a car or automotive engineering in general. one of my good friends was completely stock for the longest time...but knew more about an evo than anyone ive ever met.

I'm not talking about the one in a million guy that actually knows his ****, I'm talking about all of the other guys that have never modded a car and say get a hotside it'll give 35whp.

I only have 92 octane here, it's very well tuned at 24 psi on pump gas. I actually had it up to 26 psi for a while, but it started to lean out around 6k rpm's, so I turned it back down. There is no knock to speak of, Imy cousin uses det cans for tuning so we know when it's knocking. I do have a Walbro 255, I just forgot to mention it, I also have a clutch and flywheel that I forgot to mention. The UTEC is set up for flat shifting. Tuning is not an issue, my cousin handles all of it, and he knows what he's doing. I'm moving away from the UTEC to try something different, that's why I'm selling it.

I know all about finding the limits of a setup, I don't want to waste my hard earned money on a modification that's reccomended to me by some random internet person. with no experience(I'm not referring to anybody specifcally) I want real world proven results, from people that have tried it or know somebody that has tried it, not an opinion.

I don't think I need the driver mod. My last time at the track I cut a 1.64 60' and ran a 12.1@112 with 110 and 26 psi. I want to get an 11.8 on the stock turbo with a minimal amount of modifications.

That might be an option, after I get my goal on the stock turbo. I already have Tein coilovers, so the suspension is adequate for now. I'm really leaning towards the cams. Thanks for the advice.
