Lost hp with 3" TBE ?????

Ok so my signature says it all....I added a 3" TBE, Fuel pump, and re-tuned and wound up with 6 less hp and about 10 ft-lbs more torque. I was expecting to see 330 / 330, so to say that I am disappointed is an understatement.

Boost and AFRs were almost identical in both scenarios (I have not yet looked at timing).

My only guess is that it was a result of the temperature (~40 - 50 degrees hotter). Thoughts?

If yes -- then how do I guesstimate the gains from the TBE ??

If no -- then what is wrong??

Somethings wrong, you should have gained torque with the new parts and tune.

You did gain Tq , the heat may have had an effect on the Hp.

The heat if your difference, not a fair comparison in my opinion.

6 hp loss from heat seems kind of dramatic but u should try some heat wrap on your dp and manifold that should bring down the heat

Please re-read the post....I have lost more like 30 hp because adding the 3" TBE and walbro fuel pump has done nothing on the dyno.....

Both tunes were base flashes (for the specific setups), so it should be apples to apples with the exception of the heat and humididty...

So the question still stands, does anyone know how much power you lose per 10 degrees? I would imagine the folks in AZ or CA deal with this all the time....

per earlier -- both were base flashes...then I took to the dyno to read afr's , boost, hp / tq.....

unfortunately it would appear that adding the 3"TBE did absolutley nothing unless the temperature is to explain the a loss of ~30 hp.....

ya re read your post i can definetly feel a difference with heat here in az and mostly beacause its monsoon season here my evo definately bogs down beacause all the moisture in the air 100 degrees and humidity. where are you located 40-50 degrees above 40 can make a diference try another dyno run on a day with less humidity ya my 2cts though

from stock to a 3"Tbe, there's no way you should have lost hp like. Even with a heat like that. IMO

The temperature has a huge influence on the hp. You can lose 10whp~15whp easily. Anyway, you should have seen a hp gain after the TBE.
