HKS Cams without tuning ?

I am looking for added low end and mid range torque !

Can I install HKS 264 cams without re-tuning the car ? Will it work well ? How about HKS 272 ??
(EVO8, stock turbo with ECU Tech, upgraded petrol pump and free flow exhaust )!

yes you should get a tune even if its a SAFC. it'll help you out alot. those 264 will pull heavy down low and mid range. Get a tune and u'll found out.

I just took the cams out of my car and back to stock, and let me tell you, it's not just a mild change - you don't realize it until going back to stock from cams. When I had them installed, I drove on my 272s for a bit while waiting to be tuned, but don't push it (boost, etc.) until you get tuned. YES, it's necessary!

The combo is good for low to mid power as you can see in the tune....str8 272's are good for highend...or so i am told...anyone else care to chime in?

pm replied to. In short: 272s are probably best if you're going to race where you'll be above 6-7000rpms holding. Other than that, the 264s or a combo are really a great "street" setup and you'll be happy either way.

I had the straight 272s and they had PLENTY of low end power as well as the high end pull. But I think my car is a little bit of a freak...

I was perfectly fine with the HGKS 264/264 for 10 days before Al came on town to custom tune it the first time back in 05. The 264/264 wouldn't harm you, you are going to be OK, just have it tune whenever you can, your car will run a hair faster still.
