I searched around and found a few threads about this, but there something I don't understand.
The 1 thread I found was saying to start in the middle and work your way out
When you remove a head you should always start on the outside and work your way in... this is how I do it. So wouldn't the proper procedure be to start at 10 and work you way to 1

8-6-1-3-9
10-4-2-5-7

Anyone got some input hear on this

You are right about removing the head, but when you are installing headstuds, you are actually removing/installing the head one stud at a time. So, you need to use the INSTALL pattern for the head, which is starting at the middle and working your way out.

This is because any deflection that may be caused by removing the stock bolts will be able to work it's way out towards the outside as you go. If you start at the outside, and finish at the inside, any deflection that you caused, will be walked inwards, with nowhere to go at the last stud in the middle. This potentially will cause a small gap which may leak.

So, when replacing head studs, always use the pattern of installing a head, middle to outside.

Cool Thanks , yeah when I started to think about it, I realized this was right. And it was how I did it yeasterday when I put them in along with the cam.

 

Yea, just make sure you do one at a time and not take out all the headstuds at once and then do it
