Eagle rods, what bearings ?

Yes i did a search, ended up more confused. Some say go with clevite 77, others reuse the stockers. I'm replacing the sotckers with clevites just because it's cheap and better than using torqued/untorqued bearings. Question is, what is it about this 6 bolt 7 bolt deal that i hear ? Some say use 6 bolt others 7 bolt since they fit better. I don't want any surprises on my engine build so any help would be appreciated.

Check out that thread. I was in the same situation a couple months ago. I went with 7 bolts.

So i assume you didn't have to trim with the seven bolt, just put them and crushed ?

Horrible term but yeah, crush or torque down the bearings to the crank when connecting the rods. It's weird cause eagle says to use the 6 bolt bearings and a couple of people have told me they have used 6 bolt without any issues. I assume you've had no problems with your build so i guess 7 bolt is a good option also. Dunno, i'm kinda on the fence here, i would love to hear an authority like buschur speak on this.

they had 2 different rod designs. The old design required the 6 bolt the bearings and the new design use the 7 bolt. If you box says you need to use the 6 bolt bearings then you have the old design.

a little better wording: "crush" is the force that holds the bearings in place. it is not the tangs that hold them in place, those are for assy line up only. The big end of the rod is slightly smaller than the OD of the bearing shells; when the bearings are installed, the rod is assembled and cap tightened down, this "crush" is what keeps them from spinning inside the rod.

not necessariliy true. they did change the rod design to use 7 bolt bearings but apparently some boxes still say use 6 bolt bearings.

i know i just ordered a set last week and it said 6 bolt bearings but 7 bolt bearings are the ones that fit correctly.

We have have used cosworth bearings and they are very high quality. This is what we include in our stroker kit.

they haven't changed anything. they just started putting the stickers on the box. old sets wont have a sticker. both bearings will work. the 7 bolt is just a tad narrower.

Thanks for clearing that up, i'm still learning a lot of mechanical concepts in english and i sometimes get lost in translation

As for the bearings, the seven being narrower, then i guess my best bet would be to go with 6, but the pic that 9guy9 posted made the bearing look as if it didn't fit the rod so i guess i will have to wait until i have the rods in my hand and take it from there. Also the seven being narrower doesn't give me a lot of confidence in terms of an adecuate engine build

This is the same thing that happened to me, and caused all my confusion.
