Bypass Valve Touble.

Okay. I bought an Evo Mr not to long ago and its my first turbo charged car so i am new to this. I have read that witht the type of bypass valve the evo has there are two forces pulling and pushing the valve open to recirculate the air at throttle lift. One form the lack of pressure in the intake. and another from the over abundance of pressure in the UICP. SO heres my question. When I am pushing my car and i go to shift, why does it not "blow off" occasionally. It hasnt done it to the point where it could have hurt anything yet.... but I wanna know whats going on before it does.. has anyone else experienced anything like this?
