What is Wrong with my EVO 8?

Here is a list of my mods, TurboXS TBE, 10.5 hotside, Megan exhaust manifold, Perrin MBC, TurboXS UTEC, and HKS intake. Everytime I switch it to base map stage 2 and I leave the mbc on the stock setting the CEL flashes. I know I need a custom tune. I only have my boost set to spick at 20psi and it tapers to 18psi. Also, when I race or just get on my car hard flames come out of my exhaust.

sounds like your running rich and the tune would most likely fix it

Yeah, I noticed tonight while racing a STI I was only running 15psi. I plan to take my mbc off tomorrow and letting my UTEC control my boost.

UTEC doesn't control boost. You should take off the UTEC, sell it, keep your MBC, and get a flash. Why do you have a UTEC anyway?

Flashing CEL means knock with the UTEC. It may not be accurate, if the rest of the picture doesn't agree however.

If you choose to let the UTEC control the boost, you need a MAP sensor set up and reporting to the UTEC (TXS is easiest but not the cheapest)

There is much more involved in setting the UTEC BC up than there is a MBC. Most recommend replacing the (stock) Electronic Boost Control Solenoid (EBCS) (Perrin model is easy but no the cheapest)

Search the UTEC forum before you change anything.

Then the set up fun can begin.
