Broke something....What is it?

I went to launch my car, broght it up to the 6krpm limiter did my normal clutch release and the car did'nt move, heard a awful noise coming from what sounded like the drivers side front. Now the car starts fine but when I put it in gear and start to release the clutch it is ok at first but as soon as the clutch should start to grab it does'nt and makes a awful noise. I am thinking I destroyed the clutch, any ideas.
P.S. No smoke, no oil, no visible signs of damage.

Kind of a continuous grinding as soon as the clutch wants to fully engage. Not terribly loud. I am using a exedy twin disc. Anybody with TC braking experience?

if it was the throw out bearing the clutch wouldn't dis-engage. sounds like the transfer case or secondary shaft in the transmission to me. will the car move in any gear? Did you try anything other than first?

yeah, it also moves in reverse, I will try to see if it will move in second. I just talked to my mechanic who thinks it may be the center diff or the tranny.

does it make any "funny" or "bad" noises when backing up or releasing the clutch in reverse? How about turning in reverse? From the sound of it you "may" just have ripped out 1st gear...

Definately not just first gear, same sound happening in 2nd and reverse, also when turning the wheel. The car is now very reluctant to move in any gear. My car is f'ed.

Would the car be able to move at all if it is the TC. At first it would start to roll until the clutch was suppose to fully engage. Now it won't budge.
