The nut is a lock nut.. you need to back it off a little. then use an allen rench to adjust it the center screw part...

It should be somewhere close to the middle.. And if it is fluttering alot, you probably have it on backwards..

the side with the flange goes towards the IC pipeing.. NOT the turbo inlet pipe..

It is interesting that connecting the small nipple to the WG helps. Greddy indicates that this should be left open and not connected to anything on their web site. Anyone know the theory here? I am interested to understand more about this suggestion that appears to have helped the operation…

I have been running my Type S configured to VTA for a while. I decided to put it back to re-circulate to quiet things down. I have not had any issues with either configuration. I found it useful to adjust it while VTA. My setscrew is about 1/2 way in/out as has been described.

If you look at there japanese instructions it has it connected before the throttlebody.

And the large nipple is after the throttle body..

And i have been running it this way for ~100 miles (drove around town alot last night)

And it is working great.

Just install a Greddy Type S BOV to my Evo5, I am using VTA instead of recirculating. It sound great!!!
What I did is I installed my BOV close to the throttle body instead of the stock position.
And it run great for the first time already, no stall at all. It also improve the turbo lag between gear shift!!(improve a lot, the car run really smooth now compare with before )

Dont tap into the wastegate line...use the throttle body line instead.

which throttle body vacum line do you use?
there are two, boths eem to end up recirculating through to the EGR at some point. This won't intefere with any EGR functions etc? I didn't think tapping into the wastegate line was a good idea either. Looking at the vacum diagram under the hood of our cars, it doesn't look like there are many options available to tap into.

No. you run the normal line to behind the throttle plate so that it sees vacuum.. But the smaller slanted line goes to your a T on your wastegate..

It actuates much faster/better this way.

Tapping into one of those lines isnt necessary. Just use the line that connects to the stock BOV and it should work just fine. Leaving the second nipple unused wont cause any problems, infact, i dont know anyone that even uses it.

As I know, i don't have to change anything with my wastegate line at all? What do you mean by don't tap into the wastegate line?

Maybe is different for EVO8...... hmm.....

I heard that this could cause boost problems/spike.

Not using it on my evo i was having drivability issues.. If you read the japanese instructions that is what the smaller nipple is for..

So i hooked it up like this and it works great now!

the right way is to stay stock. There are no problems with staying stock, the stock BOV is rated to handle 19.5 lbs of boost from what i have come to understand. It allows the boost to be very responsive and blow off properly. If you put an open element filter on your car, you will hear the stock BOV blow off just fine anyway.
i am leaving mine stock, i don't want to worry about tapping into wrogn vacuum lines or unnecessarily using one of the nipples on the greddy type s etc...
i do have to say on this one, why upgrade the stock one, it's already a very good BOV.
