Just what I've been looking for Dave. The ziptie thing is getting old fast. I'll definitely take one of these springs. Probably costs more to ship than the $5 for the spring but I still want one.

Reine,

Personally, I don't like the looks of what you have done, no offense intended but it's not what I want under the hood of my EVO.

I addressed a comment made just like yours in my first few posts in this thread. Venting from the valve cover, like you did, does work but is not the ideal way to do it either.

I just tried it on a DSM engine, it will not work, it's too short.

I happen to totally agree with you.. Next round of parts I order, I'm going to have you send a spring with it so I have one thats nicer than the ugly painted blue one I have been using.

David,

Ok, could you please explain further what you think is the ideal solution then?
Ventilate from other parts in the engine?

Btw, what is it you don't like?

cpdevo,

Yes, I can put one on your car while it is here.

Reine,

See post #10 for what I said about the valve cover, it's on page 1.
It just makes the engine bay look cluttered to me, just personal preference. I like things to look very simple and clean.

hey dave, how much is this spring going to be shipped? i'm definitely interested as my stick hasn't blown yet, it would cost more to clean my engine than just prevent it in the 1st place. you could probrably drop it in a stamped envelope and use regular mail so it doesn't double the price to ship. let me know please, thanks dave, for another ultra simple solution to a common problem.

Yes, we are shipping them by the post office to keep the cost down. I think $7 is the cost shipped.

xepyt, great! Now start your own post as this thread is about what we are doing. Also, direct from them that part is $21.18 without shipping it here from Japan. I looked it up.

Exclamation Additional thoughts on crank pressure

I have been fighting a boost problem for over a month now and isolated it to a couple of things. One happens to be the stock PCV valve. I 've tested several PCV valves, Purolator ones and 2 new ones from Mitsu. They do not hold pressure under boost. They leak continuously. If you run 21 psi they will leak most of it rapidly. No wonder the crankcase builds pressure.

I have found a better solution, and am going to try it out. I will post info when done.

close to fuel line

I just got the spring from David, fits perfectly, thanks. However, the spring seems to be very close to rubbing the fuel line. Am I doing something wrong or is it not a concern?

Should not rub the fuel line. Can you post a picture of how you have it in there?
