First off welcome to the site and good luck with your new IX.

I would say before you start buying Turbos or any mods first do some research first there is a lot of good advice on here but there is also a lot of bad and if I were you I would find a good shop or two to give you advice on how to help you get your car to the level of performance you want. Also do you know what your going to do with the mods, like Drag racing, Autocross, Rally or just a street warrior/Daily driver?

As you can see by my mods below I've gone very far with mine but I did research first and went with what I beleive are one of the two best Shops for Evo performance modifications.

Call AMS or Buschur they will help you out and give you good advice. Beleive me.

Hope this helped and good luck

Google to the rescue

Anyways the A/R is a ratio in the exhaust turbine

A = Area of throat at intake
R = Radius in the housing of either the compressor or exhaust turbine
Trim - turbine wheel trim can effect an increase or decrease in turbine pressure for a given housing A/R

After a short visit at diamondstarmotorsport web page I noticed they had a very small picture of a comparison on the stage 3 vs stage 5. I did a little digging and got the bigger picture and realized the stages are simply upgrades on larger turbine wheels.
