Stock IX with compressor surge???

I have a basically stock IX and lately it's been making a fluttering sound that I'm almost positive is compressor surge. I put a BR filter on at 3,685mi, but I just started hearing the noise @7,000mi.

Is this normal? I'm tempted to take it to my dealership, but they're hacks. They'll probably tell me to put my airbox back in, and I'm guessing you won't hear anything then. I'm just worried it's going to cause pre-mature turbo failure.

It's been colder lately????

I still have the stock ix bov. I usually hear the fluttering when I go from WOT to part throttle, I hear it when parking as well sometimes. (think k-turns)

what you are hearing more then likely is the recirc from the BOV that you couldnt hear before because you werent running an open ended filter

It's definately been colder, but I'm running more boost if anything. My car pulls real hard when it's cold, as far as stock IX's go.

+1 my VIII does the same thing w/ the MR diverter and Buschur intake, its normal. Its really noticeable when you get off the throttle at partial boost or load.

I think its just more noticeable w/ the open filter intake.....

Are you talking about the turbo itself fluttering??? Instead of it making a smooth spool up sound like "tsssssssssssss", it goes "tsss tssss tsssss tssss tsssss"?

And I'm not talking about a BOV sound, its the turbo itself making the sound.
