Ok for those that may not know what has happened…. I took my car into the dealer for a Trans noise. Well it ended up being a bearing in the transmission. While the Trans was out of the car the service manager said that I would be needing a new clutch as mine needed replacing for 6xx.xx. anyway after talking to him he said that the trans bearing was under warranty and if I wanted to keep my power train warranty I would need to replace my clutch with the stock replacement. Here’s where your help and info comes to play….
1. Should I have them replace my clutch with another stock clutch and keep my power train warranty?
2. Should I say screw it and have them put the original clutch back in and replace it myself with the clutch I want?
For me to spend 6xx.xx to keep my factory power train warranty is it worth it? The car has 24, xxx on it….
I need your guy’s thoughts, please and thank you!!

I have heard that putting in an aftermarket clutch WILL void the warranty on the transmission - that is true. I have heard this happening before.
If you still have a lot of miles left on the warranty - get the OEM clutch. That's what I would do. It's better to be safe than sorry.
Consider a worst case scenario.. when they put the tranny back in after replacing the bearing - suppose they don't do it exactly right... and it goes out again next month. Aftermarket clutch? You're screwed.

i know some dealerships will install aftermarket clutches and you can keep your warranty. i know mine did. i would ask and if not and your worried about warranty get them to install a new stock clutch
Well, i decided to put a stock unit back in it for now.... Let the bashing begin...
I decided to put the fresh OEM clutch back in for a couple of reasons.
1. to retain my warranty.
2. I didn't want to have it back in the shop anytime soon incase it decided to come apart. (springs were really loose in the disc)
3. this buys me time to save more money down the road for other performance parts including the new twin disc.
For me at the time, I didn't have the money for a brand new twin disc. Plus with a new clutch it buys me more time knowing i have plenty of life in the new clutch rather than the old clutch.

+1. from my understanding the RRE clutch can hold over 400 lbs, with the advantage of the stock lookin clutch
With the time frame i had to work with i had to make my decision based on that. I looked at the RRE clutch and it looks alot like the stock clutch, it makes me wonder if they designed it based on the fact that Mitsubishi was given a good design/idea of something of a good caliber from Exedy.
