700 miles...Needing new Synchros
Is this normal?
Since day one when i drove home 2nd and 3rd felt notchy.
A week later i take it in for the first service and mention the symptoms.
Synchros are on order and will be replaced as soon as they arrive.
Is this the norm with new EVOs? Are the replacements going to be any better?
I just got rid of one lemon and i would hate to get stuck in another.

not what i wanted to hear but oh well. I will report once they install the new synchros. see if that makes a difference.
Otherwise seems like i will have to deal with it...

I'm sure you'll be fine. It's funny, I've seen about a 50/50 turnout with these problems. Some guys switch tranny fluid out and claim the car shifts like butter afterwards. And others say it's still notchy. I fall into the latter category. But you never know. Good luck!
Most likely you are right....i'm just annoyed because i had a Cadillac CTS-V that i ended up trying to lemon after the transmission and differential blew up along with a slew of other problems.
My luck would really be horrible if this car started having big issues as well.
It was not a good experience going through the lemon process.

I hope when I take mine in next Monday they order new synchros rather than claim it's all in my head or it's because I have long legs like they did last time.
From what I've heard, it's very common, but most people don't get it fixed. I suspect that there will be a recall (or whatever they're called) for the synchros soon enough.

According to Warrtalon (and please don't flame me LOL!) he said that BG synchroshift isn't that great for our cars. He recommends just using OEM fluid. But I mean, if you're having these issues with such low mileage, then I dunno. I think it's just Evo DNA encoded.
The service guy took it out for a spin and said they were grinding...sooo i get new synchros!
Either way it's prob a good thing to start with something fresh. No idea how someone test drove the car.

yea if you search up there are TONS of threads about grinding gears. In newer and older Evos. I'll probably just ship my tranny off to shep and get a full rebuild down the road. Seeing as though I don't beat the crap out of my car too often, I don't grind too often. lol.
Well, if they go bad again, do as hundreds (probably thousands) have done already and send it off to shep or TRE. It will shift unbelievably after that. And for the record bg syncroshift isnt bad for your car. BG syncroshift II was recommended by my transmission builder. I had the classic 2003 5th gear grind.

too early for synchro failure? do you time your shifting with clutch and de-clutching? that is the only reason I think why it would fail or you bought a demo car that was abused early on. the evo is loud to say the least and maybe you or the tech is confusing that for tranny grinding or whining
