Maybe your kidding? The 229/228 is at the wheels, not crank.

This is from the "Build and Price" section of the Mitsubishi site. Just want to get it understood. If its really 286 at the crank then okay I get it, if not then just looking for the explanation.

Factory performance-tuned (2.0-liter, MIVEC DOHC, 16-valve, turbocharged and intercooled) engine with 286 horsepower and 289 lb-ft of torque

I guess we can let that go but every car manufucter website lists their power at the crank and so does every magazine 99.9% of the time.

In part its cause it was on a Dyno Dynamics and was running 19psi of boost. Both those factors are going to make it lower than what some IX's have been dyno'd at.

I have seen stock IX's (early builds) make 286 uncorrected stock and 261 corrected on Dynojets. Dont be so quick to lump all of them together in the 286 @ the crank.

It wasn't necessarily required, but it's a safety item. Running 25psi is not smart on 93oct, but it's even less smart on 93oct with the stock fuel pump, so you make the call...

Senator, you didn't know power numbers listed by manufacturers were also to the crank and weren't even measured but rather estimated? You also didn't know that dynos read differently and that a DD reads the lowest of all? Strange.

John, 19psi isn't low - that's normal. Being a DD is why it's low.

286 is bhp (at the crank). whp (at the wheels) is typically 10-15% less. Plus this dyno is one of the lower reading ones (Dyno Dynamics).

Some of the higher reading AWD dynos (Like the Dynojet) will read stock whp at ~255.

Yes.

And don't forget to check your blinker fluid often...

What does that have to do with this thread? You don't even have a IX. The answer to your question is obvious and is found in 1000s of other threads, so learn to search.

No one knows how much power you make at the crank - you can't base it off your WHP. You'd have to put it on an engine dyno, so even trying to guess the crank numbers is useless.

another reason car manufacturer's list crank hp is because it is always a bigger number, and bigger always means better for marketing purposes
