overboosting after 6k rpm?

What's up guys I installed some tbolt clamps and apexi intake filter and hallmans mbc that I took from my old evo for some reason at 3500rpm it hits 20psi like it suposto but after 5500-6krpm it shoots up to 22-23psi and stays there? All the way to redline I let go right away that's in 3rd gear in 1st or 2nd it doesent do it anyone know what would be the problem?

Thanks

some people wouldnt call holding 22-23 psi at redline a problem. But i get your concern. Try turning the boost down a bit in third gear pulls and see what happens.

That is very abnormal. The boost should not climb after peaking at 3500rpm, and it should not keep going up at high rpms - it should be tapreing down. Do you have any other mods or just an intake and MBC? It almost sounds like your WG turnbuckle is not set properly, which is causing a weak initial spike then allowing it to continue climbing to the actual preset boost (which would be well over 22-23, but you wouldn't know). If this same MBC worked well on your VIII, then it shouldn't be the MBC. What hoses did you use on the IX, and are you sure you didn't install them backwards?

Getting a tune would not be relevant in this situation.

It does matter, but not so much the size as long as they're within reason.

I don't understand your last question. What were you saying? If you used any of the stock BOOST hoses, then that is your problem, but the stock hose going to the BOV nipple is fine for reuse.

Don't use the stock boost lines. They have restrictor pills in them that will cause problems with a mbc. Use new lines with no pills, and reset your mbc all the way down. Then, turn up.

Run-on sentences pwn!!

Re-using that small hose on the BOV nipple for your TEE is fine. The Hallman shouldn't be bad, but I guess it could be. Are you sure you hooked the hoses up to the right nipples on the MBC? It's easy to get them backwards.

If you got the hoses right, then try going back to stock and seeing what happens. If it's fine, then find another Evo owner with an MBC and try his.

Same as other MBCs. Depends more on the installation method.
