JDM engine

Has anyone put one in there evo? I have an 03 and it has a blown headgasket, bad input shaft bearing and I believe the t/c is crapping out (when spinning one wheel in the air, sometimes the rear will not turn) I can get a complete JDM engine trans and t/c case for about what it is going to cost to fix all of that. But will it go right in with out issues?

Couple things here.

AYC is on the JDM so probably a fitment issue on transaxel.

How much are you paying for this? Is it used?

You can grab completely built shortblocks for under 3k by AMS and Buschur.

The Tcase is open on the 03 models which is why your losing power look into a RS LSD to keep some power on the wheels. I can't be certain thats the complete issue

The JDM unit is 4k plus shipping, it is already stateside. And it is from a 7. If the t/c case is diff, what about the eng and trans, would they fit?

**edit** Yes it is a used unit

I don't have enough knowledge about the AYC on the JDM's to know all the issues especially since its from a whole different model (the 7). Maybe a vendor or expert would like to chime in on that.

I am curious however why you would spend 4k on the unit instead of 3k on a brand new built block. The 4k doesn't get your better internals just brings you back to where you were. Add 1k for the Mitsubishi LSD and your at your 4k with the built block and LSD and guarantee fitment.

seems like you need to go to a different mechanic. Send your tcase and transmission to Shep. Then get a new headgasket and some arp headstuds. Should only cost about 3k to get it all fixed.

t/c is not different, since we have swapped t/c of JDM 7 with JDM evo 8.
And for the transmission i think that would be an issue since u.s spec evo 8 does not have AYC.but i think that you can eliminate it.
