I mounted up a ebay IC for about 10 seconds, then realized what a pos it is and took it off. Fit and finish =crap I dont care if it does improve performance over the stock one it is still junk. Everyone here spent at or in some cases well above 20k for their car, and if it was to "just" go fast then you waisted a crap load of money cause you could easily get something faster for cheaper. If you really want a better front mount and cant afford a new one for 700+ then just buy a used one off of a member since there is always plenty of them coming through here.

Fit is crap. Finish is what you get for $150. Used IC is junk in some cases.

Almost as good meaning bang for the buck. Not all noobs or members here has all that money. I just wanted people to know that a cheaper IC doesn't mean that its junk, at least it performs better that stock. Of course If I have that much money, I would not buy an ebay one. I do have BR's 20g tme so I'm not bashing any vendor.
I agree. And for 150$ you basically can take a chance.

Think how many more intercoolers will be bought if ams or br doing testing on theirs vs ebay and prove the ebay is not good. I personally have a stock ic and will remain stock until i need one. right now, i have no need for one at this point.

are these cores actually made out of different metals? if so that could justify a performance difference/pricing

I would like to see a AMS and Ebay FMIC side by side. And if they are the same size then someone should weigh them, maybe that could give you an idea if they are made out of different metals.

Ebay Intercooler

I just installed an ebay intercooler over the weekend (the AMS look alike) and it looks great. It also performs satisfactory.
I didn't have an issue with the fitment of the intercooler either, the brackets provided with the kit worked flawlessly.

Will someone please tell me why would I spend the extra cash and another vendor's intercooler if the Ebay intercooler is doing what its supposed to do.

Now I can place the $400.00 plus towards an upgraded turbo.

Do the math people! If the core is not leaking, fits right and looks good please tell me why I shouldn't buy it.

Nice first post
Did you even read this thread?

You have just bought an oil cooler with end tanks fitted for an IC. Aside from being heavier than stock we know nothing about it. How do you know it is "doing what it is supposed to"?

We don't even know if it is better than stock let alone comparable to a quality Garret cored IC.

Wanting to believe in what you bought does not make it worth your money

I think it was a very good test. Obviously not as good as if a company had 4523495826345897263459234 dollars to buy the correct testing supplies, but good for what you had. and it does show a plus to the ebay intercooler.

insted of +1 for the ebay, I say plus one for the guy who thought this test up.

good job bro.

I will be buying mine soon.

I did not say it was worse or better. My main point has been that you can't say conclusively one way or another if it is effective.

It was pointed out in an earlier thread that it was an oil cooler core. I have no idea what application it was derived from.

Who every uses it for an oil cooler figures it works better than the real oil cooler and cost a lot less.

Put extra $400 into your new IC and you will think you are going faster too.

Well the butt dyno doesn't lie now does it. That along with all the reports of people being able to 'tell an increase in power' sold me a long time ago.

I dont know about all this BR AMS VS eBay. I dont see the difference. Ive seen people make 550+ w/ebay intercooler and car still running. Ive also seen the same with AMS and Buschur intercoolers. I think the more expensive ones will come out on top when your pushing 30+PSI on your engine. For lower boost i dont think your going to see much difference. Just my $0.02
